Japan theme park Yomiuriland lets guests work on top of ferris wheel

Noble Horvath

Many U.S. airlines are overstaffed due to reduced flying schedules and low demand for air travel amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The remote “workcation” trend has grown popular during the coronavirus pandemic. Las Vegas, for instance, has been trying to convince workers to set up shop there.  But would you ever want to work atop a ferris wheel?

At Yomiuriland, you can.

The theme park’s new “Amusement Workation”  program, starting Oct. 15, lets guests rent a poolside workstation at the theme park, where they’ll have WiFi and power outlets.   They also  get a 1-hour ticket for the theme park’s ferris wheel, which is good for up to four laps and includes Wi-Fi. And while you may not be able to work from the  ferris wheel for very long, you are practically guaranteed to have the best Zoom background out of any meeting participant.

William Berry scored twice in a 28-10 victory to open District 1-5A play Thursday

Shreveport Times

The approach of Byrd football – at least on offense – has been a bit different.

The Yellow Jackets’ multiple option attack aims to keep opponents off guard and eventually break their will. On defense, like everyone else, Byrd eyes big plays and toughness.

The Purple and Gold executed it plan in impressive fashion on Thursday night at Lee Hedges Stadium in the District 1-5A opener against Haughton.

The Yellow Jackets ran for more than 350 yards – including 85 yardson 11 straight carries during a back-breaking drive at the end of the first half – and Chris Grieder tied a school record by snagging three interceptions in a 28-10 victory over the Buccaneers.

“That’s the way we like to play,” Byrd head coach Mike Suggs said. “I can see the confidence brewing

It’s been nearly 20 years since the last parks and recreation bond was approved by Birmingham voters.

After all this time, the city is going back to voters this fall to ask for more than $11 million to make improvements to its 26 city parks and other recreational facilities.

The proposal would allow the city to issue bonds to pay for park improvements over the next few decades. The ballot language calls for $11.25 million to be taken out in bonds to pay for the improvements, with $4.75 million being taken out in 2021 and $6.5 million being taken out in 2024. Spacing those bonds out will allow for older debt to be retired before the city takes on the new debt, officials said.

The bond, if approved, will see residents whose property is

Come Oct. 13 and 14, Amazon’s annual two-day members-only online sales extravaganza Prime Day will bring customers over one million deals on myriad products in popular categories including home accessories, toys, and electronics. Currently, more than 500,000 small and medium-sized businesses in the U.S. sell on Amazon, and the company’s goal is to onboard an additional 100,000 vendors as new sellers to its store. Despite the ongoing pandemic, third-party sellers continue to crowd its virtual aisles, and presently account for over half of all units sold via the online retailer. In the 12-month period ending in May alone, American SMB sellers sold more than 3.4 billion products, up from

CAROLINA BEACH — To take care of oneself, preserve the environment and protect others: The tenets of the Hawaiian word “malama” fit the name of a new cafe and coffee shop in Carolina Beach. Located on Cape Fear Boulevard, a block from the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, Malama focuses on serving healthy food and drinks, while also doing its part to lighten its environmental footprint, thanks to a rigorous composting program.

Owned and operated by two couples, Matt Piccinin and LeeAnn Tluchowski and Tom and Kate Paredes, Malama opened Memorial Day weekend, right as Pleasure Island began to open its beaches amid a pandemic.

Arsenal, like all other clubs playing behind-closed-doors football, are losing a frightening amount of money with each passing home fixture as they rely massively on matchday revenue obtained from their 60,260-seater home ground.

Football has carried on despite the lack of fans, but plans are being put in place to try and integrate supporters back into stadium gradually over the course of the winter months. English Football League clubs have already drawn up plans to screen matches at their own stadiums.

Both online and PRS (Passenger Reservation System) ticket counter facilities will remain available prior to preparing the second chart. CRIS will make required changes to the software accordingly. This system was modified to 2 hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the last few months.

Just like pre-COVID period, the first reservation chart shall be prepared four hours prior to the departure of trains whereas the second one will be prepared 30 to 5 minutes before departure. This implies that passengers can book and cancel
