A shooting reported early Tuesday shut down westbound Interstate 94 for hours at Moross in Detroit, according to state police and transportation officials.

Originally, police said the shooting happened on the freeway. But an investigation failed to reveal any evidence.

“It appears that this did not take place on the freeway,” the agency tweeted. 

MSP further said the caller was uncooperative during interviews and decided not to pursue the case. 

The freeway since has reopened, and the investigation is closed. 

At about 2:45 a.m., troopers responded to westbound I-94 and Chalmers on the city’s east side for a shooting.
