Panos Panay rose to prominence in the tech industry as the leader of Microsoft’s Surface hardware business, most recently overseeing the development and launch of the dual-screen Surface Duo, and engineering the company’s unlikely partnership with Google on the device.

But in his larger role as the tech giant’s chief product officer, Panay is now leading the company’s unified Windows software and hardware teams just as the pandemic renews the relevance of desktop and laptop computers in our lives. How will Microsoft seize this new opportunity to reshape the tech landscape and navigate the challenges that lie ahead?

Those are some of the questions we’ll explore with Panay at the upcoming GeekWire Summit, in a session exclusive to event attendees.

The Microsoft executive is one of dozens of top tech, science, health and business leaders who will be joining us as featured speakers at the event, taking place virtually on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 13 to 29.

This is the ninth year of the GeekWire Summit, our signature conference on technology, science and innovation, and as with everything else in the world these days, it will look a little different. But our team is striving to deliver the same level of insights, inspiration and connections that longtime Summit attendees have come to associate with the event.

We are spreading the event out over three-week period in October, with the fireside chats and panels taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. PT. This virtual experience will cover topics relevant to the tech industry and our broader lives in these unprecedented times: travel, education, the future of work, computing, politics and policy, leadership, startups, health, and much more.

By spreading the conference over three weeks, we hope to eliminate Zoom/Teams/Hangouts/Webex fatigue, allowing attendees to tune into sessions in bite-sized chunks. All sessions will be made available to registered attendees on-demand, allowing you to watch interviews in real time, or on your own schedule. Our event platform offers chat and networking features, allowing attendees to get to know one another and discuss the key topics and takeaways.

The Bank of America Main Stage will feature fireside chats with some of the top leaders in technology and business, while the Regence Health Tech Stage will go deep into COVID-19, telehealth and how technology is transforming the health care system.

Sign up for the GeekWire Summit here or below, and stay tuned for more details on speakers and sessions in the days ahead. We hope to see you there, virtually. Please email our team with any questions: events@geekwire.com.
