The Grand Tour costs $3,950 per couple per car, offering a safe way to travel in the age of COVID-19. Drivers take their own cars — yes, you can bring your Ferrari or Maserati, or rent one when you arrive — to take off-the-beaten-track vineyard drives, visit with winemakers and eat farm-to-table food along the way.

Free Tour de France live stream of the final weekend: watch the cycling online from anywhere

Noble Horvath

We’re into the final weekend and indeed the last two stages, so it’s time to find out how to watch a Tour de France live stream online today. Today’s the day you really want to tune in, as the final stage tomorrow is largely seen as a processional affair.

Primož Roglič is still clinging on to the yellow jersey with a 57 second lead with Pogacar and Lopez being the closest challengers going into the final two stages. The Tour de France is seemingly set to make it through to completion despite a rising number of Cronoavirus cases in France which have threatened to bring the race to an early finish throughout.

The 2020 Tour de France started August 29 and will finish nearly a month later, on September 20. Cycling fans based in the UK can tune in to all stages for free

Werner Herzog’s Mystical Memory Tour

Noble Horvath

Bruce Chatwin, the author-adventurer who gave us The Songlines and In Patagonia before dying at age 49, was “a writer like no other,” says Werner Herzog. “He would craft mythical tales into voyages of the mind. In this respect we found out we were kindred spirits, he as a writer, I as a filmmaker.” In his latest documentary, Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin, the German director-narrator vows at the outset to “follow a similar erratic quest for wild characters, strange dreamers and big ideas about the nature of human existence. These were the themes Chatwin was obsessed with.” Sounds irresistible. Count me in.

Alas, few films could live up to that billing, and this one doesn’t either. Herzog has made a lumpy and rambling visual companion piece to Chatwin’s books, veering from airy mystical talk to biographical snippets

the Flats, Rock Hall, walking tour and more in overnight staycation

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Walking down Old River Road in the Flats, I could almost pretend this was a normal summer night. I glanced inside the restaurants along the route, filled with diners, and lingered along the riverfront to admire the sunset.

A quiet East Fourth Street on a summer Saturday night in downtown Cleveland.

Granted, I was wearing a face mask, as were most of the people strolling the street. And I gave an extra-wide berth to anyone who came too close.

But I was outside in the city on a glorious summer evening — eating, drinking, walking, people watching. And it felt terrific.

I’ve missed downtown – summer baseball games, meeting friends for lunch, a drink after work. And work! I haven’t been to my office in months, stuck in front of a computer in my dining room since mid-March.

I set out

The Market Square (Markt)

Markt, or Market Square, has long been a gathering place in the city, whether for markets, festivals, demonstrations or jousting tournaments. These days you’re more likely to see tourists than knights in this plaza dominated by the Belfry.

Cruising fans don’t have many options these days for getting aboard a cruise ship. But now they at least can get up close to one — assuming they can get themselves to the U.K.

A ferry company based near the cruise hub of Southampton, England, has started up “ghost ship tours” to take tourists to see all the empty cruise vessels that have been anchored offshore during the cruising shutdown.

Christchurch, England-based Mudeford Ferry is offering the two-and-a-half-hour outings on days when the weather isn’t too windy. The trips begin at Mudeford Quay in Christchurch and take place on a 20-person vessel that’s normally used for ferry service in the area.

The Best Road Trips in America: The Bourbon Country Tour

Noble Horvath

Stop Locations: Purcellville, VA to Maxwelton, WV

Total Travel Time: 5 hours 20 minutes

Total Miles: 320 miles

Recommended Route: Head a bit further east today before looping back westward toward your origin in Kentucky. You’ll make it just about halfway, stopping in West Virginia for a little more whiskey and a good night’s sleep.

Along the Way:

Town: Alexandria, Virginia. Your first whiskey stop today may be a surprising one. An hour east of Purcellville, stop at George Washington’s Distillery at Mount Vernon in Alexandria to tour a re-creation of one of the nation’s earliest large-scale whiskey distilleries, and one of the most profitable ventures on Washington’s estate. Washington’s recipe is once again being produced, in very limited batches, since the distillery’s reopening in 2007.

Town: Sample one last taste of Virginia whiskey at KO Distilling in Manassas, about 45 minutes west of Alexandria. Try a flight of Bare
