African Travel has unveiled its Platinum Collection for 2021. The trips have been curated with Covid protocols in mind and cater to travelers wanting more space, privacy and social distancing, with features such as private air charters, private guides, private safari vehicles, private villas or suites and chauffeured transfers.
African Travel president Sherwin Banda said: “With more online searches for African safaris and African countries slowly opening to guests, we’ve seen an increase in traveler and advisor bookings for Africa’s bucket list experiences in intimate, natural locations.”
Among the itineraries in the 2021 collection:
• Deserts and Dunes of Namibia includes a flying safari to one of the most remote parts of Africa. Travelers will stay at the new Kwessi Lodge, which is located in one of the least light-polluted areas in the world, as well as at the iconic Shipwreck Lodge on the Skeleton Coast. The experience will include a meeting with the Himba and Herero people as well as a rhino-tracking experience. This 10-day trip starts from $14,495 per person.
• The 11-day Platinum Botswana experience starts from $19,600 per person. This sustainable safari will include a stay at the Baobab treehouse in the new Xigera Safari Lodge, where travelers will experience the unique glass-bottomed mokoros, a type of canoe commonly used in the region.
• The nine-day Majestic South Africa itinerary starts from $4,895. During this trip, travelers will be introduced to a unique conservation story in the Eastern Cape while staying at Shamwari’s new Sindile camp.
When booking any of these trips before Dec. 31, travelers will receive several extras free of charge, from sundowner experiences to photography safaris.
