Money’s rankings looked at cities and towns with a population of at least 25,000. Any place that had more than double the national crime risk, a median income level lower than 85% of its state median or little to no ethnic diversity were disqualified, yielding a list of 1,890 locations.
Another 212,000 different data points were then collected to pick the top 50 spots. The factors included economy, housing market, cost of living, diversity, public education, health and safety, weather and lifestyles and amenities.
Only one Alabama city made the list. Alabaster, located in Shelby County, came in at number 39, just behind Goose Creek, South Carolina and ahead of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
Here’s Money’s top 10 places to live:
1. Evans, Georgia
2. Parker, Colorado
3. Meridian, Idaho
4. Rockwall, Texas
5. Columbia, Maryland
6. Westfield, Indiana
7. Syracuse, Utah
