It appears there has been a Labor Day bump in the coronavirus numbers in Midland County.
For the second-straight Tuesday, the city of Midland has reported a week-over-week increase in coronavirus cases. According to the city and its health department, there were 26 cases reported Tuesday for a two-day total of 63, which is higher than the 54 through two days last week and the 47 through Tuesday two weeks ago.
Health officials expected an increase in cases after the Labor Day holiday as there were increases inside Midland County after the Memorial Day and Fourth of July holidays. There were 110 cases last week, a 31-case increase over the previous week.
The Midland Health Department also reported 1,129 active cases inside Midland County (an increase of seven compared to Monday) and 2,201 recovered (an increase of 21). The number of people who have died because of coronavirus-related issues remained at 81.
The total number of Midland County residents who have tested positive for coronavirus is 3,614.
