SAGINAW, MI — Ox Eye Media, a Saginaw-based entertainment company and new vendor at SVRC Marketplace, is hosting a free comic book day for kids on Saturday, Oct. 24.

SVRC Free Comic Book Day will take place at the Ox Eye Media booth inside SVRC Marketplace, 203 S. Washington Ave. Kids can stop by the booth and pick up free issues of the “Monstrous” comic book series, which tells the tales of everyday monsters, robots and townspeople caught up in the changes sweeping across Europe in the wake of Dr. Frankenstein’s mad science, according to a news release. Creator Greg Wright will be there to sign them.

Children must be accompanied by an adult to receive their comics and Ox Eye Media encourages guests to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

“Having a booth at the SVRC Marketplace is the perfect opportunity to become more richly involved in the community. I don’t think a lot of the local community are aware of the amazing stuff we’re making right here in Saginaw. With the booth, we’ll be able to hold interactive events like book signings and game demos to share a little bit of what we’re doing with our neighbors,” Logistics Manager Chris Tadlock said in a statement.

SVRC Marketplace Director Rachel Trumble added in a statement, “We are beyond excited to welcome Source Point Press and Deep Water Games to our marketplace family and share them with the community as I know they bring a unique vibe and experience to Riverfront Saginaw. Their small business and products will make the SVRC Marketplace even more of a true destination location for the Great Lakes Bay region.”

Ox Eye Media is the parent company of comic and book publisher Source Point Press, board games publisher Deep Water Games and art merchandiser N3. The Ox Eye Media booth will feature products from each of these brand.

“Source Point Press was started eight years ago to put out books by local creators who weren’t able to go to as many conventions as we were. Since joining with Deep Water Games and N3 to form Ox Eye Media, we’ve grown into heavy-hitters in our respective industries and we’re so excited to show Saginaw what we’ve been up to at SVRC,” CEO Travis McIntire said in a statement.

SVRC Marketplace is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It’s closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
