For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year, the Greeley Recreation Center will reopen with restrictions and limited hours the city announced in an email late Thursday afternoon.

The recreation center, at 651 10th Avenue in Greeley, will reopen Oct. 12. The center will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and closed Saturday and Sunday. It is recommended visitors reserve a spot in the facilities in advance. Blocks of 90-minute times are available at or at

Access will be available to the center’s weight room, gymnasiums, racquetball courts and the pool for lap swim and water walking while following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state guidance and rules.

A face covering is required for all individuals while inside any city of Greeley facility, according to a state mask order dating to Sept. 12.

Open swim is not available in the pool at this time. Lap swim and water walking is available from 6-7:15 a.m. and 12-1:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.


Staff requests that members and guests get ready and dressed in the appropriate attire for their activity before arriving at the facility. Lockers will remain closed and the facility offers minimal storage for personal items. Staff encourages visitors to use the hand sanitizer stations available in the facility.

A 30-minute cleaning session immediately follows all of the time blocks. Staff will clean equipment, contact surfaces, and high-traffic areas with disinfectant.
