The Seltos comes in two variants (EX and GT-Line), with four colours to choose from: Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Intense Red (EX only), and Intelligency Blue (GT-Line only).
KUALA LUMPUR: After months of waiting, fans of Kia’s latest SUV can finally place their booking for the vehicle, which is available for viewing at selected showrooms nationwide.
Though its price will only be announced around October, we know that the Seltos comes in two variants (EX and GT-Line), with four colours to choose from: Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Intense Red (EX only), and Intelligency Blue (GT-Line only). The two variants are mainly distinguishable on the exterior – with some minor physical tweaks within – though they remain the same, performance-wise.
It is a six-speed automatic front-wheel drive SUV (no all-wheel drive option) powered by a 1.6 litre Gamma MPI naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that churns out 123 PS at 6,300 rpm and 151 Nm of torque at 4,850 rpm.
It has three drive modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) and three Traction modes (Snow, Mud or Sand).
The EX has halogen projector headlights, halogen fog lamps, a Tiger Nose grille with satin silver surrounds, bulb-type tail lights, satin silver tailgate trim, and dark grey twin-five spoke 17-inch wheels fitted with 215/60 profile Goodyear Assurance tyres.
The GT Line gets full LED headlights with LED DRLs that extend into the grille, vertical LED fog lamps, chromed grille surrounds with diamond-textured finish, chromed door handles, red body inserts on the front bumper, side moulding, wheel caps and rear bumper, and LED combination tail lights.
It also has a sportier rear bumper with a dual exhaust setup, chromed tailgate trim, GT-Line badges on the grille and tailgate, and a set of 17-inch dual-tone Y-spoke wheels.
Leather seats come as standard for the variants with a quilted design for the EX, and a sporty red-line stitch for the GT-Line. The GT-Line also has three levels of ventilated seat function for the two front seats.
Both SUVs get an eight-inch touchscreen info display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry with push-start button, as well as a six-speaker sound system with Sound Mood. The EX gets manual air con controls, while the GT-Line gets a dual-zone automatic system.
The EX features a 3.5-inch digital info display built into the middle of the analogue instrumentation with gloss dash inserts. The GT-Line gets a 7-inch display and a leatherette dash trim.
As for safety, the SUV has six airbags as a standard, Isofix child seat anchors, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, traction control system, and hill-start assist, passive cruise control, reverse camera, and autonomous emergency braking – though not part of the kit list. Additional bells and whistles for the GT-Line are the front parking sensors and a head-up display.
Overall, the Seltos measures 4,315 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, 1,645 mm tall, and has a wheelbase length of 2,610 mm. Boot space is 433 litres expandable up to 900 litres with the seats down.
