INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Reserved meetings and pickleball returns Monday to the Intergenerational Recreation Center.

The center has been closed to the public since March, when county facilities were closed because of COVID-19 concerns. The county is working on a phased reopening of county facilities.

Masks are required in all common areas, meeting rooms inside the building and for pickleball. Those attending a meeting must follow social distancing by staying at least 6 feet apart. Meeting rooms have a maximum capacity.

Drinking fountains remain turned off, but vending machines are available for beverages and snacks. Visitors may bring their own water in sealed containers.

Pickleball participants must pre-register and pre-pay at www.ircrec.com. For details or to schedule a meeting room, call 772-226-1732.

Voters decided to remove City Council members Damien Gilliams, Charles Mauti and Pamela Parris from office and replace them with Christopher Nunn, Bob McPartlan and Fred Jones. Cole started a grass-roots organization called "Sebastian Voters Against Gilliams and Parris" to make people aware that they have choice in who leads the community. "The main goal of the recall is to let people know they deserve better, and if you have a city council that's not representing you, that's breaking the law and that has their own agenda, your not stuck with that for two years," said Cole. The new council members are to take office Sept. 23.
