ISABELLA COUNTY, MI — A 36-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in rural Isabella County.
Deputies with the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 to Mission and Herrick roads in Vernon Township, south of Clare, for a personal injury crash.
An initial investigation by the sheriff’s office has revealed a Pontiac Vibe driven by a 72-year-old Vernon man was headed east on Herrick Road.
The vehicle stopped at a stop sign and proceeded to turn left, or northbound, onto Mission Road when it pulled into the path of a motorcycle driven by a 36-year-old Clare man that headed south on Mission Road, police said.
The motorcycle collided head on with the vehicle.
The driver of the motorcycle, whose name has not been released, was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center in Clare where he was later pronounced deceased.
No additional injuries were reported by police.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
Mobile Medical Response and the Clare Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
