The Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Oversight Committees confirmed its plan Monday that each team may play a maximum of 25 regular-season games if they are not involved in any multiple-team events. This is four less than the usual number.
Men’s teams can play 25 games and an additional two game multiple-team event, and 24 games if they are involved in an additional three game event. Women’s teams can play 23 games if they are involved in an additional multiple-team event.
The men were slated to host the Maryland Showcase from Nov. 16 through Nov. 25. If the tournament is rescheduled and played, it will count as a three-game event, meaning the team will play 24 other regular-season games. Maryland women’s basketball is not currently scheduled for any in-season tournaments or events.
