NORWELL – The Town of Norwell is updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan and would like residents’ continued participation in shaping the plan during a virtual public forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.

The plan will guide Norwell in maintaining, protecting and improving its public lands by setting goals and priorities for the next 7 years. It will also make the town eligible for state funds to acquire and improve conservation and recreation land.

This forum is the next step after more than 650 people took a town-wide survey and shared their thoughts on open space and recreation in Norwell. During the forum, results of the survey will be discussed and participants will help prioritize goals and objectives.

It is expected to last 90 minutes and will consist of a presentation, interactive exercises and small group discussions. Virtual attendance and participation through Zoom is strongly encouraged.

If unable to attend the meeting with a computer, tablet, or smartphone through Zoom, residents can call in to the forum with the number, 312-626-6799, meeting ID 990 4834 2203.

The committee is also asking residents for photographs that highlight the town’s existing open space, conservation and recreation areas. Submit high-resolution photos to Marynel Wahl at [email protected] and include your name, contact information and additional details regarding the photo.

For questions regarding the forum or the Open Space and Recreation Plan, contact Wahl, chairwoman of the Conservation Commission at 617-592-5632.
