“Santa and Mrs. Claus are heartbroken along with us that our beloved Ford Holiday River Parade has been canceled for 2020. They told us they’ll be back in 2021 with more glitter, glee, and toys to carry on this wonderful holiday tradition. This means you’ll have to be good for another year!” the association posted on its website.

The river parade is known to kick off the lighting of the River Walk and ring in the Christmas season for San Antonio. More than two dozen river boats decked out in lights follow float by thousands of onlookers each year. Many of the River Walk restaurants also participate by offering dinner deals for guests.

Other events are still scheduled for the holiday season, including the Ford Holiday Boat Caroling from Dec. 3 to Dec. 22, the Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias from Dec. 4 and Dec. 6 and the Holiday Lights on the River starting the day after Thanksgiving.
