While virtual learning may be the current mandate for many students, the cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will be reuniting for the holidays.

Disney+ announced Wednesday that a special based on its original series will feature popular Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s songs performed by the show’s cast. Called High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special, the 45-minute show will premier Dec. 11 on the streaming service.

The special will feature series regulars Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Renee, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr and Kate Reinders sharing favorite holiday memories. It will also include a sneak peek performance from upcoming Season 2.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special: The Soundtrack, featuring holiday songs performed by the cast will be available beginning Nov. 20 on major music services and streaming platforms.

“The holidays remind us of the universal importance of family and loved ones,” said Tim Federle, executive producer and director of the special. “The cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is its own kind of family, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to share their favorite holiday music and traditions with our viewers.”

The special is also executive produced by Ashley Edens.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was one of the platform’s launch titles when it first debuted last November. Set at East High School, the setting of the original movies, the show centers on the school’s drama club members and their faculty advisors as they prepare for opening night of their first ever production.
